New Constitution and Code of Conduct adopted by Committee
|
From 1st January 2008, a Rule of Golf will be introduced limiting the 'spring-like' effect of
driving clubs for all golfers. Therefore, members are advised to check their driver to ensure that
it it is a conforming club, as breach of this rule will give rise to disqualification from a
competition. Remember, you will be in breach of the rule simply by carrying a non-conforming
club in your bag during competition. Click on the link below for further details.

Ace Jim Kelly can still shown the young ones how to do it
|
Club member, and octogenarian, Jim Kelly, can still show the
younger members how to do it. On Saturday, 24th May, with one
blow of his 5 iron from the 11th tee box he recorded his third ever
hole-in-one, and the second on the same hole. Who says lightening
doesn't strike twice.
Jim, father of a golfing dynasty, with seven sons and seven
daughters, all avid golfer, still rules the roost at home. With this
his third ever hole-in-one, he is setting the standard for the others
to follow, none of whom as yet have recorded an ace.
Pictured to the right with Jim are two 'younger' members
of the Club, Pat Melia and Austin Coffey, listening to
Jim's every word and watching in awe as he strikes the
ball, and hoping that they may be blessed with some of
the midas touch that Jim has in abundance.
Congratulations to our member, PJ
Conroy, on winning the Malcomson
Trophy over the weekend of the 15th
& 16th June at the Devere Carden
Park Golf Course in Cheshire,
England.
PJ Conroy wins the British Open,
or to be more precise - the British Left Handed Golfers
Association 2008 Open Championship
PJ wasn't the only successful Irish raider at the event, as fellow Bodenstown member,
Michael Coughlan, completed a double act, by taking the prize for the best gross score
on the Sunday (Handicap Secretary take note).
x
Next year's competition will be played at the Forest of Arden near Birmingham, and we
wish PJ and Michael all the best in their attempt to repeat or better this year's
performance.
