Your support for the teams is encouraged and is particularly
appreciated by team managers and team members
The Barton Cup, came to an end (for this year anyway) against Corrstown on
Saturday, 23rd June. The team performed heroically in extremely difficult conditions,
with four of the matches going down the 18th. With a bit of luck the match could have
gone our way, although in fairness it has to be said that Corrstown were always on the
front foot. We wish Corrstown well, and maybe at the end of the season we will have
the consolation of having been beaten by the eventual winners.

Team Manager, P. J. Conroy, and his assistant, Barry Lenihan, wish to thank most
sincerely all the members of the panel who gave of their time unselfishly, played
together as a team and represented Bodenstown with distinction. Hopefully with the
benefit of experience and the possibility of strengthening our team, we will go further
(photographed above are five of the team members - not because they stood out from the rest of the panel, but
because they are the only photographs to hand of the team members.)

Best Cup Team Finally Bow Out
The Best Cup team finally bowed out of this year's competition at the semi-final stage, last
Sunday, 15th July, in Edmonstown.

This year the format of the Best Cup changed from matches being played on a home and away
basis to all matches being played at one venue. Up until now, luck was on our side in that we had
home advantage. This time the advantage went to Edmonstown, and this proved decisive on
greens where local knowledge gave them the edge. Nevertheless, having got thus far our lads
weren't going to give up without a fight, with most of the matches going the distance but in the
end Edmonstown prevailed.

Team Manager, Johnny Condron, wishes to express his appreciation to all the members of the
panel (Peadar Cunningham, Chris Donoghue, Paddy Doyle, Fergus Egan, Brendan Kenny,
Michael Matson, Robert McCabe, Martin McDonald, Denis O'Brien, Garvan O'Keeffe, Willie
O'Shea and Eddie Shanley), and hopes he hasn't forgotten anyone, for the commitment and to
deal with any rules disputes that might arise - thankfully, there weren't too many as all matches
were played in the true spirit of golf and the tradition of the Best Cup. Hopefully, we can do
better next year.
Bodenstown's challenge for the J.B. Carr Trophy, came to an end at the Leinster
semi-final stage against the previous winners, Stackstown, on Thursday, 16th August.

The match was in the balance to the very end. With two wins to each side, the tie was
decided by the fifth and final match which went all the way down the 18th. Unfortunately,
the opportunity to win fell to Stackstown, who holed the final putt to win the decisive
match and the overall tie.

Team Manager, Dinny Higgins, wishes to thank all the members of the panel who gave of
their time unselfishly, played together as a team and represented Bodenstown with
distinction.

We have the consolation of being crowned the Kildare County Champions, repeating the
feat of 2005. Hopefully, next year we can go one better.
